DIAL•A•RIDE GUIDE

Shared Ride, Curb to Curb, Public Transportation Bus Services of the Isabella County Transportation Commission

Plan Your Trip
Try to reserve your ride as far in advance as possible, and have all your information ready when you call. Pick-up and drop-off addresses and the time you need to arrive are vital information.
We call this information the 3 Ws:

  • Where you will be picked up
  • Where you are going
  • When you need to be there, or when you can leave

24 hours advance reservations in Mt. Pleasant and Union Township are appreciated, however, county residents may want to reserve their earlier, especially for weekend service.

Out of County Fares
Travel to or from a destination outside Isabella County requires the following fares; Regular=$4.00, Youth=$3.00, and Special (Seniors and persons with a disability=$2.00. ICTC punch-passes may be used for out-of county fares, but require two punches per one-way ride.

County Service Requires Extra Planning
If you live in the townships outside Mt. Pleasant and Union Township, the best service will be provided with some advance planning.

Weekdays ICTC makes trips to each area of the county every few hours. The service is spread throughout the day to meet the needs of the greatest number  of customers. Saturday and Sunday county service is very limited and must be arranged in advance.

Special Events or Occasions
If
you or your organization have a special event, let ICTC work for you. ICTC has developed many ways to assist in your transportation planning. ICTC point-to-point service can move just a few or a large group in a safe and efficient manner. Passengers with mobility impairment or using wheelchairs or electric carts can be easily accommodated with our fleet of lift-equipped and low-floor buses.

Please Be Ready
Please be
ready and watching for our arrival. ICTC makes every effort to arrive as close to the time we had asked you to be ready and watching, but that time is not a guaranteed arrival time. It could be several minutes before or after the time suggested by our dispatchers.
The time given to all passengers is the time to be prepared to ride, so that ICTC shared-ride service can get everyone picked up and to their destination by their desired arrival time.

ICTC Cares for Kids
ICTC is committed to providing safe and reliable transportation for children. You can help us meet that commitment.
Make sure that you inform ICTC about any changes in your child's service. You must contact ICTC if you want your child to ride to or from school or day-care. Do not assume that your child can board an ICTC bus without prior authorization.  Please be sure to call ICTC, and the school or day care, with any changes or cancellation for your child's bus service.
ICTC requires that an adult take charge of young children when boarding the bus and when being dropped off at their destination, and that children are well behaved while on the bus.

Why Do You Ask for My Phone Number
The person answering may ask for your phone number when setting up a ride. This is for potential emergency needs, not to notify you when the bus arrives. Those answering phones do not always have the time to call you when the bus arrives. It is your responsibility to be ready and watching. Although we occasionally do call as a customer courtesy, it should not be counted on as a way to be aware that your bus has arrived.

Have the Correct Fare
Please pay when boarding the bus. Drivers do not carry change. For your convenience, the ICTC also has transit passes, prepayment plans and contract billing available. Please call the ICTC dispatcher for information on payment plans.

Don't Be A "No Show"
Valuable time and resources are wasted if you call for a bus and you are not there, or ready when the bus comes. If your plans change, please call us and cancel.
The ICTC tracks "No Shows" and may charge you a "No Show" fare on the next trip.

Service Delays
Due to inclement weather, occasional delays do occur. If sever weather of any kind threatens, listen to your local radio and television station for any delays or cancellations.

Please Limit Baggage
Please limit your baggage to the amount you can carry. ICTC buses are often full. Aisles and seats cannot be blocked by extra baggage.
Drivers are authorized to charge additional fares if your excess baggage takes up seats.

Disability Verification
ICTC reduces the regular fare by 50% for persons with disabilities. Since not all disabilities are obvious, the driver may ask for your verification card. These cards are issued by agencies in our community such as Social Security, Community Mental Health, and the Department of Human Services. The card lets the driver know you are paying the appropriate fare or are eligible for a reduced fare pass.

Transit Dependency
Are you, or someone you know dependent on others for your transportation needs? ICTC is dedicated to helping residents of Isabella County achieve and maintain their independence. Call us today to find our how easy it is to use YOUR public transportation provider.

Stop Wait and Ride Again
Requests to go to a location, get off the bus, have it wait and then ride again to a second location do come up occasionally. ICTC will attempt to provide this service when it does not interfere with the service to others. There is a charge for rides to both locations, as well as a charge for the wait. This type of service, when  possible, will cost three fares.
This does not apply to a parent dropping a child at school or daycare and then going on to work or other appointment. Each rider will pay the appropriate fare, in this instance one adult and one youth, even though the parent may need to ride to the daycare with the child. Children under five (5), who would normally ride free accompanied by their parent, must pay the youth fare for this service.
